greg meyer 2015 captain tlsLakewood Police Captain Gregory Meyer will today be appointed as the new Police Chief, the Township manager confirmed to TLS.

Meyer, on the force for approximately 30 years, will be taking over Police Chief Rob Lawson, who has just reached the mandatory retirement age of 65.

  1. A huge thank-you to Rob Lawson who has done an incredible job. In an incredibly diverse community, he has overseen a police department that has great relations with the community. There are many communities around the country that can learn a thing or 2 from him.

  2. I really think that the community should come together and make some kind of reception in honor of the retirement of Captain Rob Lawson. Every one of us just wants to say thank you to the chief for being so caring, compassionate and sensitive to our community specifically but also as a whole, just a world class police chief. He has won the hearts of everyone in this town and we just want to come out and give him a big thank you! I think many would love to see this done. Willing to chip in big to see this done.

  3. I cannot believe there is still a mandatory retirement age of 65, thats ludicrous. Thats an old fashioned law that should be repealed. Advances ijn health & nutrition have kept ppl active till much, much older now. Chief Meyer is a great guy, has been around forever and I have nothing against him – but I’m sad to see Chief Lawson retire. He’s a young guy !!
I also agree with Coolest Masmid – Someone should make an appreciation dinner in his honor so we can show our love. Maybe even TLS !!
