Roshei mosdos of Lakewood’s girls schools have announced an agreement postponing the start of registration until Rosh Chodesh Shevat, saying the change is intended to ease the prolonged uncertainty and stress families face while seeking placements for their daughters.
The agreement – led by BMG roshei yeshiva Harav Yisroel Neuman, Harav Malkiel Kotler, Harav Yeruchem Olshin, and Harav Dovid Schustal – follows lengthy and detailed discussions with local rabbanim, askanim, school administrators, and parents.
For years, registration had opened immediately after Sukkos. That early start has left some families waiting anxiously for months before learning whether their daughters have been accepted.
Under the new policy, registration will only begin on Rosh Chodesh Shevat, and any agreement or acceptance of a girl into a school made before that date will have no validity.
An exception will allow new schools scheduled to open in the next school year (2027-28) to begin registration on the 15th of Teves because new mosdos need additional time to organize their classes, as they lack the infrastructure already in place at established schools.
The roshei mosdos say the change will benefit parents, schools, and, above all, the girls themselves.
They postponed the high school exams and there were no less kids not in school as of yesterday than there usually are.
If anything, the super fast roll out made it worse for girls ending the year without a school because there was barely enough time for more than one round of acceptances.
So this is pointless.
Let schools do what they want & start when they want. If anything, if a parent sees in October that they didn’t get into the three “top” schools that they insist they must go to, maybe they will have a little bit of time to rethink it and agree to send somewhere else before August 2027.
It says that the purpose is to ease the prolonged pain and uncertainty not to get more kids into school.
The point is not to prolong the agony. It’s not getting rid of the agony

Meanwhile some boys schools already opened up applications..why is this only for girls?

What’s the rush? Why not start after pesach like High schools did? My daughter enjoyed her 8th grade and then we applied and worried for a much shorter time frame.
It is not that parents are picky for seminary it is they can’t get in anywhere even though Lakewood relied on them during hurricane sandy

wont help the situation. Children/parents that will get rejected because of whatever reason will get rejected no matter what. What will help is if there is a plan and ALL the owners of schools get TOGETHER and have a meeting about making sure every child is accepted. If the community works TOGETHER instead of each school looking after their own self, I am sure there are a lot of issues that can be solved. Everyone talks the big talk and says “When I open a school I will take everyone….” until it comes down to it. We are one klal and if we care about each other and look after one another and not leave everything to last minute and “the vaad”, maybe things in this community will improve.
Why can’t the ‘askanim’ of our town open a new girls school? Why is it easier to open a boys school than a girls school? And btw big plus of living out of town is THIS!!! You don’t have getting into school/yeshiva/mikvah/pizza store issues. Just saying.
You can hire men Rebeim talmidei chachmim and pay them very low wages because everybody wants to be marbitz Torah. However, in today’s world qualified women are demanding higher salaries or they will go work in offices for high salaries. Plus the menahel of a girls school has no sipuk as he doesn’t say a shiur or get any recignition other than getting cursed out by parents who cant pay tuition and teachers who want higher wages and others who weren’t accepted. So its a thankless job that requires going into debt and paying teachers well if you want veteran qualified teachers.
Do all teachers in Jewish schools hold state certificates?
This is so wrong Boys Schools Dont make money as opposed to Girls schools where the teachers get paid much less I think ur mixing up with mesivtahs where the rabbeim get paid almost nothing cuz they want a shteler the rebbeim arent getting 40k anymore its already alot higher then that

I think ppl that live in lkwd proper should go to lkwd schools, toms river should open a school in toms river, jackson should open in jackson. Ghis way as the community grows, no one is flocking back to stay in lkwd schools. When ppl moved from bkln to lkwd, no one bussed kids to staten island. Why cant schools open up in each area as we spread out?

The only solution is to open a new school, reject everyone so everyone wants to come and then last minute accept everyone. People only want to send to exclusive schools that reject them
