The Lakewood Fire Department will no longer hold elections in February, according to a new resolution expected to be passed by the Fire Commissioners.
The move comes as the Fire District addressed the issue of requiring the use of mail-in ballots for the upcoming elections, something which would cost the districts tens of thousands of dollars.
The state several years ago allowed districts to move elections to November. Once an election is moved, it remains moved.
It’s about time. Many other cities in New Jersey have been doing this for a while.
Thank you commissioner Mizrahi for working on this.
