FIRST REPORT: Driver arrested after pulling Knife on another driver in Lakewood

A Lakewood motorist was left shaken but uninjured after a harrowing incident.

The driver, a Lakewood resident, tells TLS that while driving on Cross Street near Massachusetts Avenue, he had a bang on his vehicle which he believes was an object thrown at his car by a box truck (pictured) which was behind him. The truck driver then crossed in front of his vehicle and motioned for the resident to pull over.

Once he did, the truck driver allegedly pulled out a knife and began gesticulating with it and cursing at the driver.

The victim immediately drove off and dialed 911 to give police details of the knife-wielding man.

Police responded immediately, sending multiple units to deal with the menace, who placed the perpetrator under arrest.

The driver tells TLS that he was stunned by the incredibly swift response of the Lakewood Police Department.

β€œIt felt like by the time I hung up the phone with 911, police units were already on scene, taking care of the situation and ensuring my safety,” the driver said. β€œI am incredibly grateful for the responding officers and the speed at which they came. I came away really impressed by them.”

The truck driver has since been booked into the Ocean County Jail with multiple charges pending against him.
