PHOTOS & VIDEO (contains music): The Cheder’s 218,000 square foot dream is becoming closer to a reality as demolition and first phase of construction has begun. The first phase of the project, by Yanky Mermelstien of Ray builders, includes the placing of the cinder blocks and frame work for the 16 classrooms and dining room.
The 218,000 square foot building purchased for about $6,000,000 and situated on 13 acres in Industrial Park, will house all classes of the Cheder from Primary through 8th grade as well as a Bais Medrash and a gym.
The boys are expected to move into their new school building for the new school year.

Finally, some wonderful news during such a difficult time! How lucky these builders are to have the zchus of building the largest yeshiva ktana in america. Think how much torah these walls will absorb!
They’ll build as many as they need, probably about 9 classrooms per grade, plus special needs rooms and offices.

Brains?? Any building done here is PRIVATELY funded. In our community we have very generous individuals. You can try replicatiing it in your own community. I am saddened to hear that you will not have air conditioning(although I highly dobt you are being truthful on that). Don’t forget however that we pay for whatever you do have -through our property taxes. We barely get anything from funds allocated to education. More than 60% of property taxes in Lakewood go towards the BOE. Educate yourself before posting.
“”At 218,000 per s/f with a tax rate of $2.308 per $100 that amounts to over $258,500 per year in lost revenue to the township,”
#11 look at number 9 question. Is it not true, that lakewood school system is being taken away piece by piece? Should we not share and share alike?
