FIRST LOOK: List of the Lakewood Police Department’s new recruits, including its first Orthodox Jewish Officer

Earlier this week, TheLakewoodScoop was first to announce – with an exclusive video – the hiring of the first Orthodox Police Officer for Lakewood.

Today, the Police Department released the names of the recruits.

“The Lakewood Police Depart is proud to announce the hiring of 13 new recruits which will bring our department to the highest amount of officers to date,” Police Chief Greg Meyer told TLS. “Among them is the Township’s first Frum hire along with a very diverse representative of young men and women of all ethnic backgrounds. They have begun their approximate 6 month academy training, which consists of departmental training as well as that at the police academy with a graduation date sometime in August, followed up by field officer training and hitting the streets in about 10 months. We are very fortunate to be able to hire these additional officers to keep up with our ever growing township which will ensure the safety of our residents.”
