  1. Why does LPD need so many SUV’s and why are they buying so many new vehicles, They just got 5 or so Dodge Chargers and 5 or so Chevy Tahoes.

  2. First- To those that are all about the money- the LPD has vehicles going out of service for mileage every year. Some of their cars have over 100k miles. They are not road worthy for everyday use. Then there is the fact that Ford Does not make the Crown Vic anymore so they need a more efficient vehicle. the Ford Explorer is built with a police specific package and most of these vehicles are bought with grants that they apply for. Next the Lakewood Twp Police Dept budget has nothing to do with the Lakewood Board of Education’s budget. Its not the same nor are they linked..2 separate organizations entirely. So please stop bashing the LPD for getting new vehicles. They Need them to keep up with the town that is busting at the seams to keep up with the town. Under equipped (veh) police dept and over populated town

  3. Why don’t they buy the Caprice similar to what Howell and the state police started getting? Won’t that be much cheaper initially and on fuel?

  4. The Ford Exploraceptors are priced the same as the Tauraceptors and share common parts so why not buy the SUV with greater ground clearance for winter snow storms and more cargo space? I do agree the the graphics/color are poor though. It would be nice if the LPD brass could make up their mind on a graphic and color scheme instead of having every car be different. The MSP blue Chevy SUVs look really nice!
