The 14-day Eat According to Chazal weight loss challenge, which was offered free via TLS, has been completed with better than anticipated results, says Reuven Kigel.
“Out of the approximately 50 people who completed the program, 25 lost between 9 and 14 lbs, and another 25 lost between 5 and 8 lbs,” says Kigel. “More importantly, everyone is motivated to keep going until they reach their goal weight BeZras Hashem.”
Here are some of the positive changes that the participants have shared with him:
“I just gotta thank you! If someone told me 5 years ago that I would be able to hike up a mountain and then zip line down, I would not have believed them.”
“Eating this way has given me such clarity of mind, such a g’shmaka davening, such a deep sleep. Thank you!”
“I’m a very motivated person by nature. I just never had Hatzlochah till now Baruch HaShem, thank you!
“I love eating steak and losing weight.”
Kigel, who works as a rabbi for EMET Outreach, is especially pleased about how quickly people are feeling better and more energized.
“I always joke that’s it’s easier to help someone become Shomer Shabbos than fit, because you can give a secular Jew a taste of Shabbos, by putting them in a Shabbos environment for 25 hours, but you can’t give someone a taste of being fit for 25 hours obviously. With this program, I’m seeing that in less than 2 weeks, men are starting to feel fit Baruch HaShem, and once you know what that feels like you just don’t want to go back to eating the typical Frum American diet.”
Kigel says participants are also pleased that the diet is based entirely on the Shulchan Aruch/Mishna Brurah Siman 157 and requires practically no measurements and absolutely no calorie counting.
