PHOTOS: Firefighters extinguished a fire at a Shul at the Pinewood Apartment complex early this morning. At about 12:05 a.m., the LFD hit out a general alarm for the Lexington Avenue building after a flames were seen coming from the second floor of the building.
About 15 minutes later, the fire was knocked down. The Sefer Torah was in a safe and unharmed.
No injuries were reported, and it’s unclear what caused the fire. TLS-91/TLS-50/ Photos by MOFOTO for TLS.
Davening with a ‘bren’!
Was this the volunteer fire dept or the paid one? (We have two)
It was both the Paid Company and the Volunteers, Also known as Lakewood Fire Dept.
the paid and volunteer fire dept together as a team worked to kill the fire last night. the second paid fire station on monmouth ave. was strategically placed on monmouth for just this reason. he was down the street and was able to get there to respond so quickly because of where the station is. his backup team (the volunteer dept) quickly responded behind to be there to help with the rest of the work. lets be safe and continue to support our fire dept who is always there.
Why are we attacking our Firefighters seems like it never stop first EMS then LPD now LFD how about thanking g-d nobody was hurt
It’s awesome. This way if there is a fire on one side of Monmouth ave the paid members can respond first. If it’s on the other side of Monmouth ave the volunteers will be first.
Imagine if there was a fire smack in between…!
I thought I saw one of the fire fighters carrying a tallis with something wrapped in it. I was guessing that was the sefer torah.
Its great to see how wonderful the LFD is to our community. They first risk there lives for us and our property & than have the for site to save our holiest of jewish items.
Thank You LFD.
Was commissioner LoBello there?
Yes, it was one of our own frum firefighters who carried out a sefer torah. They are heroes and should be applauded, esp. at 12AM!
or maybe because they didnt daven with a bren
