A firefighter was injured while responding to a brushfire in Lakewood this evening, officials confirmed to TLS.

The Lakewood firefighter responded to the fire shortly after 8:00 PM and suffered a leg injury on scene, officials say. He was transported to MMCSC for treatment.

Lakewood Fire Chief John Yahr says this comes to show how even a minor fire can lead to injuries.

A Red Flag Warning is currently in effect for the State.
