PHOTOS & VIDEO [UPDATED 2:10PM] A home fire brought out the Fire Department for the second time in about 24 hours. The fire broke out in the New Central Avenue ranch at about 10:15 AM, and prompted a large response from the Fire Department, EMS and Lakewood First Aid Squad.
Firefighters broke open the roof and and windows and brought the fire under control about 15 minutes later.
The Fire marshal’s office responded to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire. TLS-55/TLS-CCP/TLS-07.
What? Another fire. Quick, vote down that budget. We don’t have fires in Lakewood. We don’t need the LFD. Right?
Sorry this is the third fire in 24 hours.
Once again Kudos To The LFD who put there lives on the line for us
wait, i don’t get it. a bigger budget = less fires? where’s the logic?
3rd General . ystrdy 222 flintlock rd also was a general alarm but CXL
i am just curious , where is hotazola during all of these fires ?? i have never seen a hotazola rig standing by at a fire scene incase a fireman or anyone else for that matter gets hurt ??? isnt this fire right down the street from their station ?
Hey->don’t be naive says:

ENOUGH about the budget we are tired of hearing about it..please if you don’t have anything to say in reference to the firefighters out on those fire scenes, please keep it to yourself. We don’t live by the budget alone..we are doing this to protect your lives and property.
A Thank you would be nice every now and then.
Lakewood has fires but why do we need 12 fire trucks for a few fires a month
Lakewood has all of these fire trucks to better serve the township plus each truck has different capabilites than another truck.
Why dont we ask why lakewood doesn’t have the following: K-9, CIU, HazMat, Dive Team, Fire Rescue, Fire Bureau, Township Towing/Impound Yard, Parking Meters, Fully Paid Fire Dept.,
think about all this stuff lakewood could benefit from before yoou ask why do we certain equipment already being utilized.
Go Beer.
you, uri and mayer simcha Rock
#8 You’re right we don’t!!! We can save lots of money by converting all those trucks into school buses and dissolve the fire department and just pile some buckets by the hydrants and let each homeowner deal with it!!!
WOW! Now that would be a sight…. to see the bucket brigade return to Lakewood. While were at it can we bring back all of the farming that once use to be in Lakewood, the horse drawn carriages, the ocean county fair, swimming at the lakes, the hotels, etc……

because of uncontrolled building and units built so close together, this town is a firemans nightmare . just 1 well placed fire and everyone is gonna be moving to tent city.
do you believe this is all arson? Is there an investigation on now to see if these fires are related? It sure seems that way.
thank you, each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart. but you do need money to operate. you put your lives on the line everytime you go to a fire, big or small. volunteers are great and a big asset, but money to keep the equipment in good order and up to date and money to pay the paid guys IS needed. how stupid to think you can reduce the budget and get the lifesaving services you want. you’d be the first yelling a screaming if those services weren’t there to protect you. And yes, if those trucks could be turned into buses, some people would not blink an eye.
To # 1 If you Dont Like It Leave The Lakewood Fire Depatment Has been here Before you were Born and Will Be Here after your Gone
To # 14 if you read the statement the Ocean County Fire Marshal’s was called to the scene
Why dont we ask why lakewood doesn’t have the following: K-9- CIU– All done by OC Sheriffs office;
HazMat-we used to have a HazMat team but the training is hard to come by
Dive Team-Lakewood Police have a Dive Team
Fire Rescue-Your Fire Dept is doing that, you don’t need a specific company for that just better to use those teams that have the funding for all that special training and equipment.- you complain now about the fire dept and their trucks..you want add more specialized units and trucks>> right
Fire Bureau- OD Fire Marshals office is doing a Great Job at that, Township Towing/Impound Yard- township has an impound lot for special circumstances
Parking Meters- people don’t pay parking fines now can you imagine if they implemented parking meters?
Fully Paid Fire Dept- remember what we said about a fully paid department- our township and fire tax will skyrocket..then who can you blame..no one
one of those cabins is my house!
and in response to question man: this wasn’t arson, the woman who lives in that house left a candle burning and went to work.
WOLFF-FISH WHAT A TEAM. GO 65
To FIre Dude! I was being sarcastic. I’m an old time Lkwd’er and am sick to death over the things going on in this town. And I am leaving Lakewood, sorry to say! I’ve had enough!
The fire dept. Had a 500k surplus last year,so even after all the cuts they still have extra cash. I’m not sure what they’re complaining about.
Hey Just sayin, I think you better look at the time frame for everyone responding into a town of almost 100k, man is it long especially for emergencies. The next time one of these incidents requires the attention of something special watch how long the response is and who comes in to town. Also do yourself a favor and look at the TLS pictures to see who is handling dive calls, fire rescue calls, etc.. in Lakewood, you’ll be surprised to see that its outsiders not Lakewood. This town is putting the emergency response responsibility on someone elses shoulders, we would have been just fine by keeping the old services and building on top of it to better serve this very populated town. I have been told that training is not hard to come by that it’s just a phone call away, ask and you shall receive is what I’m always told. I wouldn’t and don’t complain about money or budgets if its spent wisely and on essential items to provide protection to my family, friends and guests coming into Lakewood. Outside resources only stretch so far then your left to fight your own battles with nothing.
“…The fire dept. Had a 500k surplus last year,so even after all the cuts they still have extra cash. I’m not sure what they’re complaining about…”
Apparently you don’t know how much an equipped fire truck costs these days. THEY AIN’T CHEAP!!!!
Was the new commissonor there (you know he has firefighting exprience as told by him)(printed it cause you use to print everytime someone asked was “Vince there) or was he to busy trying to find ways to disband the department (print it his words in your video)
It saddens me to hear anyone complain about a fire budget that is manpower supported by mostly volunteers. I would love to see ALL volunteers stop for a month and watch all systems crumble. Then to make matters worse your taxes that we all whine about will double because of the loss of volunteers because you will have to pay people 80,000 a year to replace them. Stop crying. Volunteer and see through the other side of the glasses.
Hey #8:
I have an idea, if you know so much about setting up and using fire trucks and fire departments, how about YOU design the Lakewood fire department and bring it to the Bd of fire commissioners and see if it can pass all the state laws and ISO requirements.
