FEMA To Survey Snow Damage In NJ Today For Possible Federal Aid

storm 2010 tlsNew Jersey Governor Chris Christie is hoping to get federal aid to cover the cost of cleanup from the blizzard. The Federal Emergency Management Agency is to survey the damage in the Garden State today. Mother Nature finally did over the weekend what salt and plow trucks could not, which was melt away a lot of the snow. The damage, however, wass done.

In a letter to President Obama – filed just hours after returning from a Disneyworld vacation with his family – Governor Chris Christie asserts storm conditions in 13 counties exceed FEMA’s minimum aid standards. “Federal assistance is critical to properly and fairly mitigate the financial impact of this major snowstorm on State and local budges, which are both currently under tremendous pressure due to severe economic conditions,” he wrote. 1. However, since the gov was on vacation & is first filing now, the show of conditions is not nearly as powerful as it could have been.
