State officials are warning that ongoing federal funding delays could soon disrupt critical food assistance programs serving hundreds of thousands of New Jersey residents.
At this time, the New Jersey Department of Human Services and Department of Health confirmed that SNAP and WIC benefits remain active and services are fully operational. Participants can continue accessing food and essential items through October. However, officials caution that federal inaction may jeopardize benefits beginning in November.
If federal funding is not restored, New Jersey could face interruptions to full and on-time benefit payments. More than 800,000 residents rely on SNAP each month, while nearly 165,000 women and children depend on WIC for nutritious foods and health support. Currently, SNAP benefits are guaranteed through October 31, 2025, and WIC through November 10, 2025.
No federal funds have yet been appropriated for Fiscal Year 2026, and federal guidance continues to shift. Over the past week, the Trump Administration reallocated a fraction of remaining FY2025 WIC funds and issued limited non-appropriated funds to sustain WIC operations. Federal officials have also instructed states to delay transmitting November SNAP benefit files to electronic benefit transfer (EBT) vendors until further notice.
Historically, federal programs have been funded retroactively once government operations resume, but no such assurances have been given this time.
The uncertainty is already straining local partners across New Jersey. DHS has notified the more than 5,000 retailers, grocers, and farmers markets that accept SNAP of the USDA directive to hold November benefit files. Food banks, pantries, and county social service agencies have been issued the same warning, as they prepare for possible disruptions in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health is maintaining close contact with all 16 WIC agency sponsors serving New Jersey’s 21 counties. Roughly 900 WIC-authorized retailers could also be impacted if the funding lapse continues.
State agencies emphasized that they are monitoring developments closely and will provide updates as new information becomes available.

So much for Trump being great for the Yidden.
Whatever your beliefs about Trump and this issue are, he did not and can not shut down the government by himself. A shutdown can only happen if the other party insists on something they won’t budge on too.
Yidden don’t be fooled by the NJ government, they are trying to scare people, this is completely being done by them, they have control, it’s just scare tactics to create chaos directed at the federal government
False. This has everything to do with the FEDERAL Government.
I thought yidden were against socialism
