FBI: Jews Most Targeted Group For Hate Crimes

Jews were the victims of hate crimes more than any other demographic in 2019, according to a new report from the FBI.

Despite being a tiny minority of the US population, Jews were on the receiving end of 60.3% of hate crimes, an increase of 2.5% from 2018, and anti-Semitic crimes increased overall by 14% in 2019.

Numerous highly-publicized anti-Semitic attacks occurred in 2019, including the deadly shooting attacks at a Jersey City grocery, and a lone gunman shooting up Chabad of Poway near San Diego.

“FBI’s report confirms what we’ve been saying: We have a hate problem in this country and NJ is not immune,” said NJ Attorney General Gurbir Grewal.”

  1. This is either misleading on purpose or the author didn’t do their research well enough. According to the report, out of all the hate crimes that happened in 2019, 20.1% of those hate crimes were because of bias against religion. And within that 20.1%, 60.2% of crimes were because of anti-jewish bias.

In reality the most targeted group for hate crimes are black people. Because out of all hate crimes committed, 57.6% of the victims were targeted because of the offenders’ bias against race/ethnicity/ancestry. And within that 57.6%, 48.5% were victims of crimes motivated by offenders’ anti-Black or African American bias.

    • Look, the graphic with hate hate hate is a bit on steroids. But, the truth is that at least proportionally Jews experience far more anti-semitic bias than blacks experience racism.

There are as many as 42 million blacks in USA, and only 5 to 8 million Jews. At the very least, 5 times more blacks than Jews.

There were 1715 anti religious crimes in 2019. Jews represented 60.2 per cent of victims. 1715 * .602 = 1032 hate crimes against Jews.

As for blacks there were 4,930 racial ethnicity motivated crimes in 2019, and blacks represented 48.5 per cent of victims. That means 2,391 racially motivated crimes against blacks.

1032 hate crimes against Jews, and 2,391 hate crimes against blacks.

Jews are 1/5th at most of the black population, yet they received 43 per cent of the number of hate crimes that blacks received.

Hatred against the Jews accounts for 15.53 per cent of all hate crimes in 2019. (Total hate crimes against religion and race 1715 + 4930 = 6645). 1032/ 6645 = 15.53% of total hate crimes were directed at Jews.

And blacks received 2391/6645 = 36% per cent of all hate crimes.

So Jews, being a far smaller population, were targeted MUCH more than blacks were in 2018. And we should be the first yelling and making people feel guilty for ethnically and religiously motivated hatred and injustice against us.

The fact that we don’t shove our stats down people’s throats at every conversation shows that we are not focused on making people feel bad. And that is a great middah/character trait. But still, if people are gonna talk about racism, we should be able to say, what about anti-semitism! Yeah! What about it, it’s still ugly as ever.

  2. this is what we call news trash, has no point, isn’t true and nobody really cares. Since the giving of the torah antisemitism has been a issue, and i personally remember growing up in Brooklyn when it was much worse then today.
Just be respectful, make sure to only take one spot when you park, get off the phone at the register, use blinkers when you drive and study the holy torah, and you’ll be fine
