A township man died this afternoon in an apartment fire reported to authorities at about 1:15 p.m. James R. Sloan, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene about 90 minutes after the 911 call was placed, said Deputy Chief Michael Mohel, a spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office. The fire happened in the High Point Condominiums, a garden apartment complex at the corner of Massachusetts Avenue and Prospect Street, where the second story of Building No. 15 has a hole in the roof and broken glass. Authorities have not confirmed what caused the fire and have provided few details at this time. Investigators were inside the apartment shooting photographs and interviewing several people. APP
