Far Rockaway man, Pinchos Solow Z”L, tragically killed in accident in Pennsylvania [UPDATED]

A Far Rockaway man was tragically killed in an accident in Pennsylvania last night.

After spending Shabbos in Lakewood, Pinchos (Philip) Solow Z”L was vacationing in Pennsylvania and went out last night to Daven. He never returned home.

His wife and daughter were with him in Pennsylvania ultimately learned that he had been involved in a two car accident, and was tragically Niftar. He was 53.

“R’ Pinchas was a beloved figure in the Far Rockaway area and in particular in the Yeshiva Darchei Torah neighborhood,” said R’ Dovid Bender, Rosh Kollel at Yeshiva Darchei Torah. “He was the first in shul and the last to leave, his hasmada was legendary and he was instrumental in setting up and organizing the HILI minyan led by R’ Dov Bressler.”

Askonim from Lakewood, including Misaskim volunteers, responded to the scene to ensure proper Kavod Hameis.

Achiezer personnel who are working with the family have also pointed out that Rav Moshe Travitsky of the BenSalem Yeshiva (which is in close proximity to the site of the accident) was also instrumental in ensuring kavod hameis.

Mrs. Golda Solow is also a dedicated member of the Far Rockaway community, who has worked for many years in the office of Sharray Tefila in Lawrence, led by R’ Uri Orlian.

The Levaya will tentatively be taking place 10:30 AM on Tuesday morning at Boulevard Chapels in Hewlett.
