The family of Noach Tzvi ben Gittel, a 14 year old boy that was struck by a vehicle while riding his bike last week in Lakewood, is hoping to raise funds to begin a helmet awareness campaign, and to distribute free helmets to the children in the community.
“Although he suffered a severe traumatic head injury, his life was miraculously saved because of a $20 helmet he was wearing at that time,” the campaign states. “This fundraising serves a purpose to raise awareness about bike riding safety, that “HELMETS SAVE LIVES” and from the money raised will go toward that campain as well as provide helmets for children who need it in the neighborhood.”
The family member, who began the campaign, told TLS they have seen a slight progress in his condition.
“B”h yesterday afternoon there was slight improvement in his condition. However, much Tefilos are still needed.”

I pray for the bachor every day but this has very little to do with families that cannot afford to buy helmets and more about awareness. All the (mostly bacharim) driving their bikes in the street without helmets, have a helmet sitting at home somewhere. This is about NOT ALLOWING THIS INSANITY TO GO ON ANY LONGER! Why are they biking in the middle of main roads (such as county line!!), without a helmet! This should be unacceptable to any human being!!!
i totally agree with #1 & must say that this issue “about NOT ALLOWING THIS INSANITY TO GO ON ANY LONGER! “is involved with lots of issues in klal yisroel
its insane to watch the tzaros go from tragic to horrific R”L on a daily basis. just in april alone we lost 9 innocent children & infants in strange & horrific ways. in the past 2 years alone we have lost over 140 gedolei Hador & 120 children that left families mourning & in pain over their loss. can we call this coincidence? this is a mageifa & not normal.
How much longer can we just sit & let this happen without us waking up & FACING REALITY & admiiting to Hashem that its time we finally woke up & did teshuva together as a nation?
Perhaps someone can give me a true answer?
if you want a list of all these names of children niftar you can email me at [email protected] (the movement Hashem needs & awaits from us daily before he sends Mashiach b’karov)
May he have a refuah shelaimah quick
I am just wondering why so many kids in pineriver area ride their bikes with out helmets and why on the streets next to cars ? Somebody please explain this to me. I am trying really hard to Dan leckaf schus parents who let this go on and kids who are doing it but I am running out ideas ..
Teach your kids to make smart choices. My 5 year old son tells me he chooses to be safe and wears a helmet even when it’s hot… but why don’t the big boys choose to be safe?
Perhaps we should accept that the police be permitted to ticket those riding in the street without a helmet. The parents who will have to pay those tickets will have a lot more leverage with their Bochurim
You are 100% correct, yet we talk, talk and it’s like talking to the wall. Here in BP, last night at about 10:00 P.M. observed a family, on their way to or from a Lag Baomer event, with 3 of their boys on bikes, no helmets, no lights and wearing dark clothing!!! In our family, if we find children riding bikes without helmet, that’s the last of bikes for that family. Closeout Connections was selling helmets for under $8.00. If you add up some of the junk, some of these kids buy and put on cheshbon in the grocery, it adds up to more than an under $8.00 helmet. May this bochur have a Refuah Shelaim !
In all honesty, to drive a car which is considerably safer than a bike, you have to go for lessons, study the rules of the road, be tested and be subject to scrutiny of the law. Yet, any youngster, can ride his unstable bike in the middle of traffic, in between cars, in front of them, behind them. It is quite miraculous that there are so few casualties!
