TLS EXCLUSIVE: The Lakewood Scoop has received exclusive reports from prominent community conscious physicians who said, that although not reported by the OCHD (Ocean County Health Department), there are many cases of Swine Flu in Lakewood, but none appear to be life threatening. The Lakewood Scoop spoke with several local Yeshivahs, who reported large absenteeism, including one Yeshiva alone reporting over 17 students absent today due to Flu symptoms. The Lakewood Scoop spoke with O.E.M Coordinator Chief Rob Lawson moments ago, who although did not get any confirmations from the OCHD, agreed that this news be made public so that parents can take the necessary precautions. The Chief reiterated, that there is no need to panic, however, if your child does come down with any Flu like symptoms, he or she should remain at home to prevent it from spreading. We will keep you updated with all further information.

One Ocean County observer likened the current flu pandemic to Katrina hitting New Orleans. Eveyrone was busy pointing fingers. There certainly was enough blame to go around. NO ONE was prepared, and when they finally reacted it was too little, too late.
fyi, the Ocean County Observer is not a quotable source for anything. Due to declining interest in their publication they downsized about 1.5 years ago to a free weekly edition and appear to be coming up for another downsizing/closeout. Let's hope the APP is next..

OK smartypants 11:53 – Tell us what to do!
my son has the swine flu and there were 10 boys absent yesterday from his class.
With hundreds of cases in Lakewood (just ask any school), why is the OCHD keeping a tight lid on this story, jeopardizing the health of our children? Are they in denial? Can't cope? Don't care? In short, why the cover-up? Can the Vaad step-in to prompt public health officials' cooperation?
I think it would help if ur son who you think is too sick to go to school is not in the coop, target, walmart etc. – germs spread very quickly. the past few days I have been in all of the above mentioned stores and have seen kids of all ages out with their mothers shopping.
