Emergency responders to be honored for heroism during massive Lakewood apartment building blaze

Some of Lakewood’s emergency responders will be honored for their heroic acts during the massive apartment building blaze in Lakewood.

Immediately upon arriving to the scene of the September 29 blaze, first responders – including police officers, firefighters Hatzolah and EMS members – ran into the large apartment building in search of trapped parties. The emergency personnel managed to help all the residents escape, but not before some of them suffered from smoke inhalation.

Multiple police officers, firefighters and EMS members needed to be treated, and several were hospitalized.

The blaze was one of the largest in Lakewood’s recent history.

The heroes will be honored at an event next week.
