Electronics Stolen From Unlocked Vehicles

burglarySeveral unlocked vehicles were reportedly burglarized over Shabbos in the Ridge Avenue area and had electronics stolen. In what seems a weekly occurrence, the owners of the vehicles came out of their homes this morning and made the discovery. The door to at least one of the vehicles, was left open. None of the vehicles were reported damaged.

A GPS device and other electronics were reportedly stolen. TLS-CCP.

  1. SIGN ON CAR SHOULD READ:

I HAVE EXPENSIVE STUFF IN MY CAR I TRUST THE WORLD, SO PLEASE DONT STEAL MY STUFF, BUT IF YOU DO I WILL BLAME THE LAKEWOOD POLICE DPT ANYWAY.
    THANK U

  2. to resident says and to anyone with the post sign idea. never ever post a sign on your car which is meant for thieves. bad idea.
and here’s the thing. if people could get into a car, start the engine and drive then they should have no problem locking their cars when they exit them. there’s no such thing as forgetting. you don’t forget to turn on an engine do you?

  3. If im not mistaken this has been happening on an almost weekly basis, how many times do you need to be ripped off before you lock the doors?

  4. These incidents shouldn’t even be reported on here! Anyone who leaves their doors open be it to their cars or houses has to accept the result of their foolish negligent behavior. I see no reason to make a big deal about it. We shouldn’t even feel bad, not one bit!

  5. I disagreee. Walking through the streets of Lakewood you will always find one vehicle unlocked. It may be a child who went out to get something from the car or a wife that has a lot on her mind. But even if you leave your car unlocked once a month you are sure to have a vistor that night. If you go to other towns like Monsey or Cleveland, no one will enter your driveway and break into your car. Police should be aggresively going after these thugs as opposed to telling us to lock our doors. May be we should stop enforcing speed limits because drivers are always speeding!

  6. what does the lakewood community want from it’s police department. They don’t inform them of this. They wish that the resident did not call the police for that. It is a joke. Police are to busy to respond to absent minded people who do not do the obvious and protect thier property such as…….locking your car door.
