Economic Crisis: Schools and Shuls are open, but Tomchei Shabbos’s phones are ringing off the hook!

[COMMUNICATED] Things are back normal, right?

B”H, our schools, Shuls and many businesses are open again. We are no longer hearing of mass hospitalizations. But in a still increasing number of homes in the Lakewood area, parents are very worried about how they will feed their children over Rosh Hashana, Sucoos and the rest of Tishrei 5781

The economic devastation over the past few months is historic in its scale. Countless proud breadwinners, including many “successful business owners,” have seen their parnassah plummet R” L.

No one can fathom having an empty refrigerator and stove over the Yomim Tovim. As Lakewood’s families have for over 30 years, these fathers and mothers are turning to Tomchei Shabbos for all the food and groceries they’ll need during this costly season: fish, chicken, meat, wine, Challah, cake, snacks, fruits, vegetables, paper goods and more.  [CLICK HERE TO DONATE]

For weeks, Tomchei Shabbos has received calls from residents of every neighborhood in Lakewood, Jackson and Toms River who cannot afford food for Yom Tov. Families are being continually added to the Tishrei distribution list, in addition to Tomchei Shabbos’s massive regular family list, which has grown exponentially since Purim.

“This is by far our largest Tishrei distribution ever, on the heels of our most difficult year ever,” says Rabbi Yaakov Yitzchok Trainer, Director of Development, bluntly. “We need the tzibur’s help, so that we can continue our longstanding policy to never say ‘No’ to any family that needs food for Shabbos and Yom Tov.”

Please open your hearts. In this zechus, may you, your family and all of Klal Yisroel be gebentched with a beautiful, healthy, prosperous and sweet new year!
