PHOTO: A DWI checkpoint on Route 9 Southbound is causing heavy delays into Lakewood, motorists are reporting. The checkpoint, situated in Manalapan, has police pulling over each driver, asking for their license and registration and checking for driving under the influence.
Motorists are reporting traffic backed up for several miles.

Pls some1 explain what stops the drunken from turning off Rt. 9 so doesn’t get stopped ?
they blocked it off far enough and it looked like construction at first but after there are no more turnoffs they show that its a drunk checkpoint. at that point there is no where to turn
The traffic was so bad that most cars turned off to the side streets
