UPDATED: [PHOTOS]: An unknown driver fled a vehicle, after the vehicle overturned early this morning, taking out a utility pole. The crash occurred at about 5:00 a.m. this morning, when a motorist overturned on East 5th Street and Manetta Avenue and then striking a utility pole, knocking it out of the ground.
Police arrived, but the driver had already fled the scene in unkown condition.
Police searched the area for over an hour sources tell TLS, but the driver was nowhere to be found.
The downed pole knocked out power for several blocks in the area, including at the Ella G. Clarke School.

UPDATE: 9:10 a.m. Police Chief Rob Lawson has notified TLS that East 5th Street between Manetta Avenue and School Garden Street, as well as Manetta Avenue between Ridge Avenue and East Fourth Street, will be closed for the repairs.
Power is not expected to be restored until approximately 12 noon or later.
An alternate site for the Ella G. Clarke students has been set-up at the Lakewood Middle School. All EGC students are being transported via bus service to the new site, and will be dismissed at the normal scheduled time (1/2 day due to the holiday). A call chain has been initiated to notify parents/guardians.

Did the vehicle have a PA plate? How long LPD and car insurance industry will tolerate those fake license plates?
