PHOTOS: A driver is lucky to be alive this evening after his vehicle knocked out a light pole on Madison Avenue. The driver was involved in an MVA, which resulted in him losing control and hitting the pole and knocking it down. The drivers both self-extricated themselves from the vehicles and declined medical attention by EMS. Hatzolah also responded to the scene.
Earlier this morning, a driver knocked down a pole on Route 9 and Central Avenue, which caused serious traffic delays in the surrounding area while the utility company repaired the pole.
On Purim, the light pole across Route 9 at the same intersection was also knocked down, as reported on TLS.
TLS-89.

The lightpole association is offering a reward for information regarding the aformentioned incidents. Many lightpoles are reportedly hesitant to appear outside at night, in light of the incidents that have taken place. Light poles are advised to remain vigilant, and aware of their surroundings.
RARELY is no one at fault in an accident. The weather was clean. SO who was speeding? Who ran a red light? Who ran a stop sign? Who changed lanes and cut someone off? Who made a right turn from the left lane? i wish we had all this information so we can properly bash the horrible drivers that usually cause these senseless accidents
The left lane near 88 is a turning lane. Alot of people use it to bypass the traffic in the right lane…then quickly hope into the right lane. Madison & 9th street people run the light all the time. Wait till its made into 5 lanes in the coming months. If they reduced the speed from County line road to central ave and enforced it the problems would stop. AND STOP DRIVING ON TALKING ON THE CELL PHONE!
we need red light camereas ASAP!!!!
stay off your cell phone
This article is written in the male tense. This was a female accident. BH this turned out very minor. We must thank Hashem for having rachmunos!
We need more cops to protect the lightpoles!!
#9 – what was male tense about it. The article says the driver/ drivers.
what about being dan lekaf zechus? it is called an ACCIDENT! meaning not on purpose. sometimes maybe even most times it was caused by some kind of stupidity or recklessness but you know what? accidents happen.
The word “accident” is only used by civillians. Cops, firefighters, EMS refer to them as MVC’s or Motor Vehicle Collision. This is because 99/100 times an accident is no accident at all and can be directly blamed on someones improper driving. Unless you are talking an act of nature that caused this (such as a tree falling into someones path, or a pot hole causing loss of control), this is almost traced by to someone violating some law.
thanks for the smile! 🙂
back to horse riding ,less accidents
