Driver Arrested After Trying to Run Lakewood Police Officer Off the Road [PHOTOS]

The officer was driving an unmarked car at the time of the incident

A driver was arrested after attempting to run a Lakewood Police officer off the road today, TLS has learned.

The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Cedarbridge Avenue, when the officer – operating an unmarked department vehicle – was nearly ran off the road by a driver in a pickup truck.

Police say the officer slammed on his brakes to avoid the accident, and got behind the truck to initiate a traffic stop. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

Police tell TLS the suspect is a resident of Lacey Township, and he was charged with; Possession of a controlled dangerous substance; Possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and Aggravated assault. He was transported to the Ocean County Jail.
