A man is in custody after fleeing from police in Lakewood and Toms River.

On Sunday evening, the Toms River Police Department was contacted by the Lakewood Police Department to request assistance in locating a subject they identified as “Dominique Holly”. Lakewood Police advised that Mr. Holly had eluded them in a vehicle earlier in the day. As a result of the Lakewood investigation an arrest warrant had been issued for Mr. Holly.

At approximately 1:00 AM Monday morning Mr. Holly and the vehicle being sought by the Lakewood Police were located in the area of Hooper Avenue and Rt. 37. Toms River Police Officers attempted to stop the vehicle; however the vehicle fled eastbound on Rt. 37 at a high rate of speed.  Given the danger presented to the public the officer’s terminated the pursuit.

Later on Monday afternoon the police were summoned to the Ocean County Mall on an unrelated investigation.  While in the mall parking lot, officers located Holly, as well as the vehicle he was driving when he eluded police earlier in the day. Holly was taken into custody on the outstanding Lakewood arrest warrant without incident and transported to police HQ.  The vehicle Holly was operating was impounded.

As a result of the Toms River investigation Holly was additionally charged with eluding, obstruction by flight, as well as a host of motor vehicle offenses.  The investigation was conducted by Toms River Police Officers Brian Jarka, James Colline, and John Minor, with the assistance of the Detective Bureau.

Mr. Holly is currently in Ocean County Jail pending hearing.
