  1. The Scoop should research whether they are singling out Lakewood for ticketing.
It’s possible the Lakewood Police dept. Has asked for backup so that they don’t seem like bad guys giving tickets or State antisemites are sending them in.

  2. About 11 years ago I got a ticket for speeding. Since then I always follow the rules including not playing with the cell phone. Thank you to the Police for my ticket.

  3. Bob, apparently you can be following the law and still get ticketed. A trooper gave me a ticket today for being on my phone when it was on my passenger seat the whole time. I did not use or hold it at all while I was driving

  4. I also belive they they ticket the orthodox community both in Lakewood and in Brooklyn as well more excessively then others. Because they know that they will quicker pay it and not fight it. Its a cash cow for them .

  5. I heard on the radio that they give tickets for having a license plate frame that obscures the words Garden STate. That is super ridiculous because the name of the state is clearly seen.

  6. Truth-Guy… so you believe NJSP is ticketing people in another state? If you’re going to make such a claim, think about what yo write before posting.

  7. NC – I agree and experienced the same thing. A trooper pulled me for talking on the phone. When I turned my head and showed him the bluetooth on my right ear, his response was “let me see what I can do”. He returned with a ticket and said he was giving it to me “because he saw me talking” and that “he would be happy to come down and fight it out in court, but he will not talk to me about it on the side of the road”. He then walked off, leaving the paperwork with me. You can never win…

  8. Maybe the reason state troopers ate in Lakewood is because of so many accidents plus troopers are allow to go into any town that want

  9. I see so many people using a cell phone when they drive in Lakewood! It’s beyond terrifying! So many accidents in Lakewood because people are being reckless.

  10. Troopers pull people over throughout the entire State on NJ. Lakewood’s track record for accidents only draws their attention. Unless you never drive in Lakewood you cannot appreciate the daily demolition derby that takes place here. Thank you NJ State Police. Wish you were here 24/7/365. Maybe then Lakewood will be a safe place to drive.

  11. You guys are so ignorant, cops will target any city with a high level of violaters. If Lakewood is a known target for speeding drivers the state and the city will focus there. Newark has more people stopped then most cities. That’s not anti semitism or racism. Everything is anti semitism with you guys, get a life

  12. The driving in Lakewood is like riding a roller coaster (just with more accidents). I wish the troopers were here everyday, that way i wouldn’t have to worry about people make a left from the right lane, running reds, and going around me at the crosswalk.

  13. Thank you Police Officers for making our Town less danger and safer to drive. Number of distracted drivers holding their phones, some with kosher phones, are seen in daily basis. Please officers, ticket as many irresponsible and selfish people, to make Our town safer.
