The arrests were made in an attempt to locate individuals possibly related to the shooting. A Frum Yid was included in the arrests early this morning, as over 40 State Police Officers swarmed Lakewood.

  1. If there are warrants for these people why weren’t they carried out until now? Maybe this is why criminals are allowed to roam free in the first place? Anyone consider that?

  2. I want to hear from all the people who posted this week that the State Police have no business being in Lakewood. 2 days ago when they were giving out tickets for snow on car roofs, you know who you were who that complained. I want to hear you complain now when they are needed to catch a killer on the loose in this town.

  3. There is quite a difference in the crime of murder to the “crime” of having snow on your car or not paying a ticket. One thing has nothing to do with the other. They shouldn’t have arrested people with no “shaichus” to the murder.

  4. To Disgrace:

Are you trying to say that a dead police officer does not justify the police doing a blanket sweep of warrants when a killer is on the loose? I hate to tell you this, but if they were to “overlook” certain groups of people over another, especially when lives are at stake it would open them up to far greater scrutiny than you are giving them. They have a job to do, if they are told by their commanding officer that they have to pursue ALL warrants while dealing with an emergency situation then that is what they HAVE to do. Nobody is above the law.

  5. to everyone out there, this sweep should have happened months ago, dont roll into our town arrsting guys for parking tickets after one of our own officers get gunned down by the gangs. The cops in this town are scared and they should be, they are outgunned, out manned and way out funded. Im all for sweeps, lets get the feds in here and go through every project, ghetto, tent city and arrest every person wit ha warrant and mayb e ,maybe we will pull a potential cop killer of our streets and our boys in blue will live to se another day. Sorry but too little to late, there are hundreds of gang members still out roaming the streets in lakewood and Lawson has his hands tied.

  6. to number 6 if they would have been focused on executing warrants insteag of ticketing for snowballs this gang member would have been behing bars! you kidding me guy has warrant out for hollow point bullets and automatic weapons and cops are going after snow and waiting for the guy to be pulled over for going through a stop sign before they can bring him in

  7. TO ALL THE PEOPLE WHO SAY NJ STATE PD HAVE NO RIGHTS TO BE IN LAKEWOOD NJ HELLO PEOPLE LAKEWOOD IS IN NJ RIGHT.NJ STATE PD HAS ALL RIGHTS TO BE IN LAKEWOOD ITS IN THE THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY THEY HAVE THE RIGHTS TO BE HERE AND ANY WERE IN NJ

  8. Hey my 2 cents, that was my point. Of course one has nothing to do with the other. But some in this town expect the police to only enforce the laws they want and not ALL of them! If you want to be protected from cop killers then guess what, those same people also protect you from ignorant people who let ice blow off their roof and thru your windshield. They also have to enforce ALL warrants when their commander issues an emergency search. They can’t exclude people from that. No matter how big or small the warrant. Peoples lives are at stake.

  9. lets c i live in NJ i have a NJ license.mexicans have a pa as the jews have ny “DAH WASN”T BORN YESTERDAY”GUESS WHAT THEY LIVE IN YOUR TOWN AND DON”T PAY TAXES.GOD BLESS THE STATE TROOPERS AND LPD

  10. We need a lot more sweeps like this on a monthly basis, then maybe we would get rid of some of the bad seeds.
No one is above the law, if you live in a city you have to be governed by the laws of the city, or you could just leave…

  11. @#20 first of all they were assault rifles not machine guns and yes it was all completely neccesary considering there was an armed and dangerous murderer loose at the time and to everybody else that has posted something ignorant you are not above the law. and @#6 it takes a very long time to serve all warrants the only reason they were all served so quickly was because multiple agencies assisted the LPD in serving these warrants think before you speak

  12. To Skeet, I totally disagree. The cops who came charging into a temple of worship knew clearly that whoever they were arresting was not carrying a weapon and was not violent. They could have simply asked someone there to call him out. They certainly could have had one officer walk in and ask him to come out. They did not do either, instead they came charging in as if they were dealing with a violent perp who was a threat to their safety.

Lets call a spade a spade. The cops took this sad opportunity to demonstrate their own day of rage and did not act in a professional manner. I am absolutely not condoning people not obeying the law but at the same time whether its the LPD or the NJ state police they themselves have to conduct themselves properly. The instant they cross that line they are a menace to our law abiding society and not protectors of our long standing system of laws.

I feel strongly that letting incidents like this go by without protesting will lead to more serious abuses in the future. We need to be supportive of our law enforcement officers while at the same time holding them to the high standards we have every right to expect.

  13. One more point, in my opinion it really does not make a difference what type of weapon they were carrying. The issue is how they conduct themselves dealing with an obviously non violent person who was being brought in for a minor charge. They do not have the right to terrorize and disturb an entire group of innocent people just to make a point.

  14. To #22. The officer that was killed approached the man in a normanon unconfrontational manner. He ended up being shot 3 times. The police never know what they will be dealing with. Can they assume that a Yid Frum is not armed and dangerous? They must follow procedure. I favor the greater precaution in every case.

  15. Perhaps they had to include a frum just to prove it wasn’t profiling. I mean everyone always think that the jewish residents are treated special and above the law…not that I believe there is special treatment (I am not Jewish). Just saying. I do agree that it would have been better if done outside the shul and perhaps after the sabbath.

  16. “first of all they were assault rifles not machine guns and yes it was all completely neccesary considering there was an armed and dangerous murderer loose at the time”

OH. And was this guy considered a potential threat. Becuase he took out the trash on the wrong day.

  17. The reason for these arrests are simple. They arrest people with minor offenses and tell them that if they lead them to the suspect they will be released. It`s a way to force & collect some info

  18. @ #27 THERE WAS AN ARMED AND DANGEROUS COP KILLER WHO COULD OF EASILY OPEN FIRED ON ANY LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER AT ANY TIME

it does not matter what the the reason for the warrant was for on sabbath or not YOU ARE NOT ABOVE THE LAW it disgusts me to see all these ignorant post on the tls on every article Obey the laws and you will not be being ticketing.

  19. Did I offend you? I mean living in Lakewood and being a non Jew we kinda have no choice but to become familiar with your culture. If I offended anyone by using a Yiddish word I apologize.
