Dozens Of Lakewood Volunteers Join Hundreds In NY In Desperate Search Of 9 Year Old Boy

leiby walking cctvURGENT: [PHOTOS] [UPDATES BELOW] Dozens of Lakewood residents are reportedly headed to Boro Park today to join thousands in the now desperate search of a 9-year-old Brooklyn boy who went missing yesterday afternoon. The boy, Leiby Kletzky, was last seen at about 5:00 PM yesterday after leaving camp, but never returned home.

Hundreds from NY Shomrim, Hatzolah, Chaveirim and the NYPD have been searching through the night, and with the weather conditions, the search is becoming more desperate by the hour.

leiby_2Members from Lakewood’s LCSW, First Aid members, Chaveirim and other residents will soon be on their way to NY, TLS has learned.

If you are available to assist, please proceed to the Shomrim Command Center on 15th Avenue and 57th Street in Boro Park.

NY Assemblyman Dov Hikind has put up a $5,000 reward for information leading to the return of the boy.

UPDATE 2:00 PM. The reward now stands at $45,000.
UPDATE 2:45 PM. The reward now stands at $100,000.
UPDATE 4:35 PM. The search is intensifying by the hour, but a sign of Leiby is yet to be seen.
UPDATE 6:40 PM. The latest photo was taken from CCTV showing Leiby yesterday at about 5:05 OM walking in the area of 44th Street and 14th Avenue.

  2. As a side note, it is nice to finally hear a news report that portrays the Frum community in a positive way. It is of course sad that it takes a situation such as this, for the media to notice all the charity and goodness that goes on by us.

  7. I closed my shop and I am heading to brooklyn am almost there already to help with the search , its a gevaldiga achrious to help out now, time is running out every minute counts now

  8. According to Kol Mivasser news Police are now working on 2 tips and are suspicious of foul play. As of now volunteers are still being sent out. PLEASE PLEASE DAVEN!

  10. check all elevators in boro park sometimes people get stuck in broken elevators there was a story in manhattan a few years ago where a man spent 3 days in a broken elevator also check all basements and storage rooms in apartment buildings and storage rooms

  13. 5:05PM EST (Tuesday): Highly credible sources tell YWN that 9-year-old Leiby Kletzky has been spotted on CCTV footage walking on 44th Street in the area of 14th Avenue, after 5:00PM on Monday evening. We are also being told that there may be additional footage with Leiby in it. NYPD Detectives are in possession of the footage.

    Based on this latest development, Shomrim Coordinators have decided to leave the Mobile Command Center at the current location of 15th Avenue and 57th Street.

    Additionally, there are many false rumors going around. They are nothing more than that: False rumors.
