The overnight and early-morning downpour is causing severe flooding around Lakewood and beyond this morning, and has also been the cause of multiple accidents and traffic delays.
The National Weather Service has extended the Flood Advisory until Noon.
Chaveirim is once again warning drivers to refrain from driving through water-covered roadways, as it can result in severe, and costly vehicle damage.

Chevra, please slow down, it’s mamish sakonos nefoshos! The oilum is driving around like it’s 80 degrees and sunny. There are puddles the size of Mikva’os and people are ripping through them. Besides for shpritzing up bystanders and causing them a hefsek mumoyn for their cleaner bills, there’s kemat liftoff with all hydroplaning I’ve witnessed! At the rate we’re going there should be a lineup for ‘Hagoimel’ after maftir this week. Please make use of the brakes rather than the Gas in such weather!
Yeshivishe reid yeshivishe shprach, takeh mamesh gradeh ah gevaldigge zach! Abie Rottenberg wrote that song about you anonymous……
This is mamash a mabul, it shows the Lakewood is too big for its own good, we need to revert to being a yeshiva town as it was intended not an extension lehavdil of Brooklyn.
Reb Yeshivish, Vaiys duch ois you’re a shtickel letz and are well entrenched in Ihr Hakoidesh’s Yeshivisheh Shprach and Mehalech. If only more chevreh would utilize this form of speech it would bring a more torahdikeh and geshmakeh flavor to our town. We are NOT like the ainoi yehudim. We are Lakewood NJ – Proudly ah Yeshivisheh town!!
If the leaves were picked up before the storm, maybe the flooding would have been less severe. The street drains are clogged with leaves.
