[COMMUNICATED] Do you think the Stimulus Checks right before Pesach are a good idea? Will it make taxes go up? Should people be relying on the government so much? Will it really help the economy? Well, no matter your political leaning, I’m sure that you do support stimulus checks – stimulus checks to help support those families in need. You see, we’re not talking about checks that come from the government, we’re talking about checks that come from you.
Imagine a middle-class family who lives in your neighborhood. The oldest of their lovely 10 children ka”h is just about to enter Shidduchim. Both parents work, in fact, R’ Yanky S. had two jobs, until the first covid shutdown. With 3 salaries, they barely covered their expenses, and now, his one salary leaves them short each month. They struggle, cut back, budget, and try their best, but the credit card bills keep getting bigger, and the local gemach is starting to call.
A stimulus check in the mail this time of year is heaven-sent. But, will it allow them to finally buy some new clothes or shoes for their children? Will it allow them to pay back those they owe money to? No. With over $30,000 in credit card bills and debt, $16,800 will make a huge difference in the long run, but it won’t help them make Yom Tov.
This is common amongst the thousands of families in our community who receive assistance from Ahavas Tzedakah and the other great organizations our community is so proud of. But, in order to help, we need a stimulus check that will make an impact – a stimulus check only you can send.
Yes, the stimulus checks are going to help, but they’re far from enough. And, even if a family in need receives a stimulus check that allows them to be a little more liberal this Pesach and buy some clothing or a little extra food, do we not farggin them? Do we want them to be as stressed as always? Do they not deserve a little help from us too?
Please, help the nearly 1000 families Ahavas Tzedakah supports by donating now at MyBlock.AhavasTzedakah.com or by responding to your Block Representative today and sending our community the greatest stimulus package possible – our dedication to Tzedakah.
