If houses of worship would be for profit companies they would be open.
Thanks for the picture. Just bought done shares of United. Looks like things are getting back to normal
I agree to stop the madness every workplace should look like this…. Obviously besides the older people should still quarantine until most people are tested for antibodies
Of course I agree.
There should be Federal Officials arresting the crew when the plane lands and United should not get any bail out money.
I don’t think we should equaled things like that! The question is simple, is going back to church/shul something that effects public health? If yes we need to take the right precautions, whether or not the officials think it’s ok. We have to make our own calculations what’s gonna protect us. The same way it took the state 2 days to close the public schools and we went along (Unfortunately that cost lives in Lakewood) the states decision may be to lax and we may need to reach conclusions that may be stricter !
so do you think shuls and schools should be closed all year round? it always affects “public health”, all sorts of viruses and bacteria go around yearlong and people die from them. You need to put things into the right perspective. Also you seem to think the flight is ok but don’t equal the flight to shuls, why is that?
You compare this to a “virus and bacteria [that] go around yearlong?”
Don’t you realize that we have not experienced anything like this for a hundred years? And this may be more deadly than in 1918 c”v.
People, wake up. This is the “big one.”
America will survive and we will come out of it better than before as it alway has. Just wait and see.
BTW, I recall learning that about 100 people died of malnutrition in NYC during the Great Depression when American agriculture collapsed. That is not happening now.
We are discussing the current situation not the beginning. Anyone in an area that had a large breakout most likely came in contact with the virus and reacted to it the way their body is to react. Lakewood has barely had any new cases of hospitalizations in the past 1-2 weeks. The few people that died in the last week or so are old cases (people that were in the hospital weeks ago). The majority of lakewood has already been exposed to this type/strain of corona virus and now it is like any of the other strains of corona virus that goes around, like the common cold.
I don’t understand why you think this is the “big one”, this is dirt compared to Ebola disease and the like.
I also don”t understand why you think this may be more deadly than 1918 pandemic. The estimate for that pandemic is at a minimum 20 million and many historians say its in the 100’s of millions. Even according to the minimum of 20 million covid-19 is far from that. The 1918 Pandemic lasted about a year to a year and a few months. We are already over 5 months into covid-19. worldwide corona deaths are at around 283 thousand with a flattening curve. At this rate it won’t even reach 1 million. You may be a teacher but definitely not a math teacher.
Covid-19 has a fatality rate of about 0.7%. The world population is 7.8 billion. You do the math.
A federal judge issued an injunction in Kentucky yesterday allowing church services to resume against the governors orders, noting that the State was likely to lose the case since similar non religious crowds were allowed in other “essential “ businesses. Time for NJ residents to sue for their religious rights as well. Is is not. As important to us as it is to people from Kentucky?
I do agree. But at this point nothing makes sense anymore.
Agreed. Time to stand up for our rights. Murphy is not a king.
חמירה סכנתה מאיסורה!
When it comes to sakana, even the most remote possibility of sakana, we have to be machmir!!!
We need to have the right perspective as to what is considered sakanta that requires chumrah. At this point it seems like the corona virus is not much more sakanta than other viruses and bacteria. And maybe the lockdown is more sakanta than the virus.
Are you seriously stupid? More people have died of this in Lakewood in 8 weeks than have died in Lakewood in the last full year for every cause combined. Where are you getting fed this misinformation anyway? No the lockdown is not more sakana. Only a mentally challenged child could possibly think the two are comparable.
You missed 3 important words “at this point”. In the past 1-2 weeks lakewood barely had any new cases of hospitalization. The few niftarim in the week or so are from people that were hospitalized weeks ago. The virus has made it’s way through lakewood and the majority has come in contact with it and their body reacted to it however it did. At this point it is like any other type/strain of corova virus that goes around like the flu or common cold that we come in contact with daily and our immune system deals with them.
Who cares if we agree? We need to follow what our Rabbanim and doctors say. If they are not one voice,, that’s a different issue.
To Yaakov
I dont believe the 2 days 9f school is what lost lives. Most people got it before that must likely on Purim. It took about 10 days for most people to feel the symptoms.
Unfortunately, Yaakov is correct, and it was those few days of (censored) not closing…and then abruptly sending 400+ back to their middle age parent’s houses whether locally Brooklyn, or even out of town
Two wrong don’t make a right
UA is 100 % wrong
Keeping houses of worship closed
Is the smart and prudent thing to do until policies and protocols are set up to ensure people will keep socially distant from each other’s
This is a knee jerk reaction seeing a plane full of passengers doesn’t mean it’s ok it’s totally wrong
The point is that the government should not be allowed to be invloved in the decision at all. If doctors and rabbanim say to close shuls then we should 100% do so, but there should not be any precedent of government making any decisions of closing any religious institution. The above picture is just hypocrisy on a national level.
Exactly!
It’s all about what’s important to you. You are ok with seeing a full plane because you understand that basics in life must continue. The question is just what you view minyan or kollel as… מהו תכלית של האדם בעולמו…
Nobody said that. It’s ok with me because it is goyim deciding to take their lives in their hands. Yidden don’t do that. Anu ameilim veheim ameilim. We don’t risk lives to daven betzibur, contrary to whatever religion you were brought up with told you, similar to Judaism though it may have seemed.
What is the delay?
I believe the time has way passed for everyone to be tested.
Anyone positive should stay in a Corona Hotel like in Israel , where the people are free to pray mingle and move about.
Everyone who is negative and has antibodies should get a green light to reopen and begin life again
Anyone who is at risk should stay put until a vaccine is found .
I think that’s reasonable No?
How come these politicians are so stupid ?
The biggest issue is that some people do not obey rules not the psak from rabbanim they say they got their own psak. Not the law i guess theyre above the law and not the health officials. Maybe maybe if rules and laws would be obeyed things could start reopening soon otherwise we have to wait a bit longer. Its simply sakanas nefoshos.
this lockdown hasn’t been about saving lives for a while now. The governor hasn’t lost a penny from this ordeal, why should he care? He’s loving and relishing the control and power along with all his democrat cronies. If Hillary was president, we’d all be at mom’s house today.
The democrats wanna turn this country into Russia, FBI acting like KGB, political control before people’s livelihoods and lives. Don’t tell me about a second wave. Maybe shut down the country because the flu is coming in 6 months. Taava gaava and kavod has a way of turning people into really horrible beings.
I am renting a airplane to house my kids school!
why would we make a decision about our shuls based on United Airlines? Because they care about their passengers???
Would you be able to make a minyan on the flight?
This is hypocrisy! Ofcourse Shuls should be opening, so should schools. The vulnerability will have to remain isolated until a vaccine is in place.
This continues lock down, has no purpose. 99% of children have already gotten it with or without symptoms. Most of us are immune, and indeed it’s still not safe for the vulnerable, so they will have to keep going for a little more until vaccines are out.
Governors are only keeping their grip of power in place? with themselves in mind and their hope that with maximizing the destruction they have a higher chance to replace POTUS in Novemver….Shame on them!!
I’m glad you feel the liberty to post information as far from the truth as you have with no compunction. Unfortunately, intelligent people won’t take you seriously unless you at least attempt to provide an actual factual source for your garbage. Sorry!
Who cares about what’s going on aboard the flight, or what the law is? If it’s safe there should be minyanim, if it’s not there shouldn’t. Simple as that. The law from a corrupt government that is giving countrywide guidelines instead of locale specific shouldn’t factor into that equation. I honestly don’t care if they dance in the fires in Tibet or wrestling tigers in Zambia or going to nightclubs in Vegas. It’s not a “right” I’m fighting for.
S209, you need to tone down your rhetoric. Also, since you know so much, please provide a source for your claim that less than 106 people died in Lakewood over the last year (excluding corona victims)
You got be stupid where in middle of election time or even if not its all a fight of democrat or Republicans!!!!!
