DHS Health and Safety Grants Available For Camps And Child Care Centers

The New Jersey Department of Human Services, Division of Family (DHS/DFD) is making grants immediately available to child care centers and youth summer camps. The grants are intended to assist providers in obtaining items they may need to meet the state’s new health and safety guidelines.

Items that grant funds may be used for include, but are not limited to: thermometers, cleaning products and deep cleaning services to lessen the impact of the spread of infectious diseases, such as Covid-19.

The DHS is giving out grants up to $2,000 to summer youth camps, and up to $5,000 for licenses child care centers.

Grants are available to licensed child care centers and summer youth camps. However, child care providers who have received funding for these same services from another source are not eligible for the grants. Funds received from the grants may not be used for capital improvement purchases, i.e. building construction, renovations, or major repairs.

Those interested in applying for either of these grants may submit an application here. Once the application is reviewed and approved, qualifying applicants will receive the funds within 60 days.
