A DHL delivery man knocked on a local resident’s door last week, but it wasn’t for a typical delivery. It was a small child found walking around outside.
“He wanted to know if the little girl on my lawn was mine,” the Lakewood woman who got the knock on her door tells TLS. “I said no, and didn’t know who she was.”
So the delivery man did some more inquiring.
It turns out, the approximately two-year-old girl was a neighbor’s child, who the father says slipped out of the home.
“Please, be more careful,” the woman said. “Make sure your doors are locked in a way that children can not open them. Do not allow your children out alone. This could have ended in a major tragedy.”
The woman from the first home tells TLS she phoned the delivery service to applaud him for his actions, and hopes it will reflect in his records.

Dhl is no longer around??
Actually they are back around have a warehouse in East Windsor NJ ..also used to be known as Airborne Express..
That so nice of that guy!!! What a nice guy!! Applause to you mr. Nice!!!
Paul is a great guy. A real mentch. We are lucky to have him servicing our area.
Jsmith: yes they are, I just passed a DHL truck earlier today.
number 1 you should get your facts straight. DHL is around and the driver was one of theirs.
DHL sure is around. I use them. Get to know Paul. He’s a true all-star!
DHL provides international service only and they do an AMAZING job at it. I once had a package arrive from China the NEXT DAY. (China is 13 hours ahead of us)
DHLa stopped doing intranational shipping a few years ago. They now do only international.
DHL is still around
Wow, amazed (not) instead of debating whether or not DHL is still in business no one is questioning how a 2 year old is left unsupervised long enough to roam
Why is the concern if DHL is around and not the Fact that a child was wandering around, alone and unsupervised?
Firstly, I would like to publicly commend the DHL delivery man who took the initiative to save this child! Thank you so much and our blessings to you for your kindness!
I just saw a brilliant solution to this all-too-common problem. My friend put her combination (“Shabbos”) lock on her front door up at the top, rather than the center, of her door. This is a great solution for someone with a toddler who can wiggle through any child lock on the market. Have a great summer & stay safe!
I was wondering the same thing as #12. I wrote in to TLS because I wanted it to be brought to people’s attention how dangerous this was. That child could have been killed. But for some reason they made it more about the DHL driver. He was great and I made sure to call the company commending him, but the main issue here is about the child in the street with no supervision (which they also left out, she was in the street and was brought to my yard I think by the driver)
Paul just came buy for a pickup, he says he was just being a concerned citizen. Great Guy
Although paul is a great Dhl delivery man for ur area the true hero and the one deserving the credit is Dhl driver Freddie who was in the area and protected that baby. Way to go Freddie !!
