Detective Sergeant William Rodriguez: Secure Your Strollers, Lock Your Vehicles

lpd carAs reported yesterday with a message from the LCSW, stroller thefts have been on the rise in the last few weeks, costing residents big money. The pricey strollers were left lying around the outside of the homes, making them an easy target. However, the strollers weren’t the only items targeted recently. Thieves are takingmuch advantage of the negligence of the home and property owners, by preying on unlocked vehicles as well.

“Residents have got to lock their car doors and secure their valuables”, Detective Sergeant William Rodriguez tells TLS. “Either lock the stroller or bring it in to your home” he says. “I know it’s an inconvenience, but it’s sure better than having it stolen”.

Just last night there were three vehicles burglarized, and they were all unlocked, Rodriguez said.

As first reported here on TLS, most of the approximately 100 vehicles burglarized in Lakewood and Jackson just over 10 days ago, were left unlocked. TLS-CCP

  1. Wow “As first reported here on TLS, most of the approximately 100 vehicles burglarized in Lakewood and Jackson just over 10 days ago, were left unlocked. TLS-CCP”

this is sad that this kind of stuf has now become a common occurance . Should not make it easy for the creeps who feel staeing other people property is a way to make a living

  2. Nothing new here folks. Same old stuff, lock your doors, bring valuables inside, etc. When will people learn. Move it along folks. Carry on not caring about your items and leaving them everywhere except where they should be.

  3. People need to be more responsible for their personal items. Common sense, lock your doors (cars and house). Don’t chance any items being left out side of the home unsecured, Basic logic…..

  4. If you are in a bind and cannot move your strollers or lock your cars, ask a non jewish neighbor. Most I’m thinking would not mind bringing your valuables in and locking your car for you. We don’t want thieves attracted to our neck of the woods either by bikes, strollers and other interesting things left out to be stolen.

  5. My car got broken into Tues night/Wed morning. The door was locked & the car alarmed. So they broke the window. $230 repair so they can take a few dollars in change… Sounds good to tell everyone to secure your items. But it is even better to find the crooks & prosecute them.

I’m not justifying the people that leave their stuff just waiting for someone to take, but we need to keep our streets safe, locking everything down is secondary.

  6. i dont know why you need LWPD to tell you what to do its command sence to lock and or put your stuff away this area Brick Lakewood is not the greatest area

  7. I know someone who used to say “Just leave your valubles in a bag outside of your car , it’s better than having a window in your car broken” and it is so true people will do anything for a few cents these days
