Was a great event last year, but BBQ didn’t seem to have any mashgiach. Would be great if there was an actual hashgacha. “Under Rabbinical Supervision” isn’t exactly up to our standards.
Why pasel the whole thing? Doesn’t suoervision MEAN mashgiach? Isn’t it better to have supervision than to have a hashgacha? Did you ask who the mashgiach was? Ask who supplied the meats? I’ve been there before, in Pine Park, and it was totally run by ‘unzere’. and At the time it had meats supplied by Epstein’s. Not positive. Ask. And you will know.
Of course I asked. I couldn’t find any yid who was responsible for the BBQ. The non-jews doing the grilling were under a non-jewish manager who couldn’t point out or direct me to any mashgiach. They were able to show me meal-mart packages of hot-dogs and hamburgers, but whose grill was it? Without a mashgiach you can’t trust that it wasn’t the police departments grill which would make the food treif!
I’m not trying to “pasel” anything, just bring awareness. It was a very nice event and we’re grateful to the Lakewood PD for everything.
