Desperate Times: Thief Drills Hole in Lakewood Resident’s Gas Tank To Siphon Gas

It seems like the record high gas prices are driving thieves to consider unusual methods to avoid paying for a gallon of gas.

A Lakewood resident getting into his van this morning noticed his gas tank was nearly empty, TLS has learned.

After filling up his tank at a nearby gas station, he noticed the gas leaking out of the bottom of his van.

He brought the van to a mechanic where it was discovered that overnight someone had drilled a hole into the bottom and siphoned out all the gas.

FWIW if holes were drilled, the gas wasn’t siphoned, it was drained.

That being said, did the vehicle have an alarm?

If it was an electric drill and the tank was metal, one spark to the vapor could have blown up the moron and the car.
