Assembly Republican Leader Alex DeCroce and Assembly Republican Conference Leader Jon Bramnick, issued the following statement in opposition to the jobs-killing tax increase being promised by Democrats in the Legislature. DeCroce, R-Morris and Passaic:
“Our economy has had three consecutive months of private-sector job growth, including 4,000 new jobs last month, a sign that our effort to control taxes is bringing back New Jersey’s economy.”
“Even Senate President Sweeney correctly identified ‘cutting taxes for small businesses’ as the right course to ‘fuel our economic recovery.’ But now, he’s ignoring his own insight by promising a tax increase on small business owners that will go over like sugar in a car’s gas tank.”
“Continual tax increases killed New Jersey’s economic engine, along with 156,000 jobs over the past decade, and we remain united in opposition to any tax increase that will reverse the progress we’ve made to create jobs, including nearly 40,000 since January.”
Bramnick, R-Union, Essex, Morris and Somerset:
“History has proved that the Corzine-McGreevey approach to higher taxes has failed and we cannot afford to repeat the mistakes of the past mistakes.”
“The state’s chief economist recently reported that a similar tax increase in 2004 caused 20,000 people and $2.5 billion in gross income to leave the state.”
“New Jersey needs to send a message to business leaders that we are done increasing taxes and we are on the road to creating jobs.”
“The Democrats know the Governor is going to veto this legislation and therefore it’s simply New Jersey politics.”TLS.
cut the pensions and we will be out of the red !
take there cars and ins. off them
How about the Democrats take a 20% pay cut and NO pay raises until the economy picks up. I am sure those that are still working are not getting pay raises so why should the government??!!
