Deadline Nears for New Jersey College Students to Apply for State Financial Aid; How To Apply

New Jersey college students who did not receive a Tuition Aid Grant (TAG) last year have just a few days left to apply for state financial aid for the upcoming academic year.

The New Jersey Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA) announced that the deadline to submit financial aid applications is September 15. Students attending a New Jersey college or university this fall must complete their applications by then in order to be considered for state-funded grants and scholarships for the 2025–2026 academic year.

HESAA is urging students not to wait until the last minute, stressing that completing the application on time is critical to securing funding.

The agency offers resources to help students navigate the process. Applicants can call HESAA at 609-584-4480, Monday through Friday, or visit the agency’s website for guidance and support.

State financial aid programs, such as TAG, provide crucial assistance to thousands of New Jersey families each year, helping to offset the rising cost of higher education.
