  14. Put Your Money On The Chess Board!

    I am a high school principal of a very large heimishe girls school for 20 years and have devoted my life to helping my students thrive regardless of the expenses involved. I don’t do public fundraising because it enables me to gain the trust of the parents and students who reach out for help.

    This is a fund that pays for doctors and therapists we’ve had good experience with and refer to, clothing for yom tov or going off to camp, we have even been covering the payroll for three years of a former student with limitations and emotional problems so that she too can have a normal respectable job, security and structure. Expensive juices for an anorexic student, recommended by a licensed nutritionist whose fee we are also paying, marriage counseling for students who come back for guidance after marriage, the list is endless, but B”H so are the accomplishments which are obvious and life changing.

    That is what propels us forward every day with the goal of never turning a student away. Every case is followed, and then supported until when financial help is no longer needed.

    As in the famous story with the servant who asked the king to give him his reward by doubling the amount of money on each square of a chess board. So too every student we empower, enable and strengthen, is multiplied by the hatzlocha of her children and future doros IY”H.
