  1. See it ALL the time. Drivers watch for when other light turns red forgetting they have a delayed green.
Everyone is encouraged to get a dash cam. Can be as low as $30

  2. @jake from experience the $30 dash cams aren’t good the lense melts they shut off at random times some are hard to find right program to read on computer I recommend you research the right one before purchasing one.

  3. 3 illegal actions:

1: illegal turn on red from 88 onto south Clifton
2: ran red light by Hurley
3: went straight from the right turn only lane

  4. Emergency?

I can’t imagine this driver does this consistently. He would surely be in jail.
Here is my logic: if he does this a lot he would sometimes get caught. Once he has multiple violations, he would have his license suspended. If he continues to this with a suspended license he would get caught for driving with a suspended license… I think this story ends in jail.

If I were to bet, I’m betting it was an emergency. They happen…

  5. Didn’t kill anyone. Wasn’t even reckless. He’s obviously a good driver. Dash cams are the new version of police scanners – they’re for children who wanna play cop.

  6. This could very well be a first responder. Many of them only have dash lights and no other warning lights. (That is, in fact, the law for some first responders.) From the vantage point of the dash cam view that is exactly what it would look like. From that angle you will never see the dash light in the responder’s vehicle. The driver was not reckless in any way, he paused well enough to ensure no one was in the way and could safely make the right turn from Rt 88. Once at the Hurley traffic light the driver actually takes a longer pause, the oncoming van does not start to turn, perhaps noticing a dash light. Only when the intersection is clear does the driver cross. This does not look like a reckless driver in a rush, abruptly cutting people off. This does appear to be a calculated emergency response.

    • This “calculated” emergency response nonsense you speak of is ludicrous. Having a blue light on your dashboard does not give you the right to disregard traffic laws. Blue lights are a courtesy in the state of NJ.

  7. You can add changing lanes without using his turn signal. No excuse for that, even (especially) if he is a first responder on a call as some seem to think

  8. Charge the driver, subpoena the video to show the judge. If it was a first responder he can show the judge the attendance sheet. But really it looks like an everyday occurance in Lakewood.

  9. To # Pathetic – apparently weaving in and out of a lane, indicative of instability, (which you only got to through neglectful & illegal driving) isn’t “moronic” (or as defined according to the English Language as) “reckless driving”?! Someone with that kind of psychological oblivion shouldn’t be allowed to operate a vehicle! As per the video – the percentage of disregarding to preoccupied drivers, drastically outweighs the “good & stable” one’s , of which are very few, so not much is going to change. Making “left” turns on Rt-9 (as countless have mentioned) 7AM – to 7PM is stupid and life threatening to yourself and all those around you, who seem not to care at all, while an overload of “DRIVERS” are hooked to their phones (to their ear) like there’s nothing else in existence is all a combination of appalling driving behavior in this town!
