  1. In general, I have been noticing that oncoming traffic has to brake for drivers taking risks. Be proactive! Avoid crazy corners, even if it takes a few extra minutes. South of Rt. 9, there are so many places that turning left is near impossible to do with a safety margin: Oak to 9, Evergreen to 9, Elmhurst to 9, Yale to 9, Chestnut to New Hampshire, Massachusetts to Prospect, Williams to James, Pine to 9. These intersections were clearly not constructed with this volume of traffic in mind.

  2. im not trying to say he did the right thing but i learnt from driving in lakewood everybody makes mistakes sometimes. you cant judge, maybe he was tired and just totally didnt see the laght

  3. He slowed down slightly and certainly looked both ways, which is perfectly ok when driving at 4 am.
There are almost no cars around and no reason to wait by red light like an idiot at 4 AM.
I certainly don’t sit waiting by red lights at that hour like some rule following bumbling civic jerk

    • If you are planning one day to move to a new location, you may be very happy in California. In California many many people that are driving at 4 AM or 5 AM, they actually ignore the red lights.
I do would like to give you a friendly tip:
When ever you are driving at 4 AM and you approach an intersection and the light is green, please please slow down drastically, because your friend might be on the other road approaching your intersection and he will fly right thru that red light and I do not want that he should hurt you in any way.
To make life easier, let’s change the rules-red means hit the pedal to the metal and green means STOP.

    • Yup. You will get away with it 99.9% of the time in terms of tickets and accidents, but that .1 percent will make it not worth it…..I only ran that red in the middle of the night when my wife was in labor and the baby was born within minutes.

  4. why do we have to stop at red lights when there is no one else around? At night all lights should revert to blinking red if there’s no traffic.

    • I once heard a mashal, and now its the nimshal- Someone went through an intersection and a truck was coming the other way and ran a red light, yet he kept on going as he was in the right. Everyone said by the levaya he was right, he was dead right. R”L. What if the midnight driver just happened to miss that truck…
