FYI – It could be inlcuded in dina d’malchusa dina that one has to stop at stop signs…
How you drive is more important than how you dress. I do believe that one will be judged for the former and not the latter. In any case, perhaps the brakes failed.
Why can’t both be important?
forest and second
Of course it is. And V’nishmartme m’od l’nafshshosaichem. And a host of other mitzvos.
Umm how do we know that he didn’t stop?? You can’t tell from the video
It’s not clear that the person did not stop at the stop sign because the video starts when he would have been stopped.
The issue was actually the double parked car which forced the driver to move left into the turning lane and was moving much faster than a person that would be turning left, thereby crossing the intersection from an angle that could not be seen(because of the parked car) and at a speed that was not expected.
The car that was double parked was blocking the drivers view on forest. This individual should be ticketed.
The whole scenario was a setup for disaster… The car going straight in front of you had to go around the double parked car in the middle of the street, thereby going into the turning lane, at which point the person going straight (without stopping at the stop sign) probably thought that the guy was turning left yet didn’t have his turning arrow on ( which unfortunately is too often the case that people don’t use their blinkers) . Granted the guy going straight without stopping at the stop sign, should still have stopped at the stop sign… But definitely a messy case.
Did I miss something? The car driving up Forest didn’t have to stop. He had the right of way. The car coming from 2nd street, whether he stopped or not is irrelevant because he hit the car on Forest. I don’t see what the double parked car had to with anything.
How come that car parked in middle of the street?
He does not own the street. He does not pay taxes for the street. How come it didn’t bother him to inconvenience the other drivers????
