this town needs more trafic lights period !
its a city and not a town anymore and in a city there are more trafic lights ! stop signs aren’t enough
If people obey the law and stop at STOP signs and get off the phones and pay attention to driving, this town would not need more traffic lights. All Lakewood needs are people who are mindful that they are not the only ones on the road. That ain’t happening!
The town could put a traffic light on every corner, however, the way people drive in this town, there would still be many accidents. How many drivers do a rolling stop for a right on red turn? How many actually do stop at a stop sign? Etc. By the way – those people who keep saying there should be more traffic lights can pay for them. One light costs about $50,000. I pay enough taxes now so I don’t want anymore traffic lights. I want people to drive by the book.
i ride bikes all the time in lakewood and yes i have seen people run lights and stop signs people need to obey the law and hit the brakes i almost got hit a few times
To all those who never bothered to read the drivers manual….
It is ILLEGAL to drive on the shoulder. That means if someone in front of you is waiting to turn left, you CANNOT pass him on the right shoulder.
The shoulder is for pedestrians, cyclists, disabled vehicles and emergency vehicles. You will get a ticket and get FOUR POINTS on your license.
I don’t care how long you have to wait for the car in front of you to turn left, STAY OFF THE SHOULDER!!
Several years ago, a cyclist ran a stop sign and rode right into my right of way. I slammed the breaks, but it was too close for a full stop in time. Thank G-d she was only lightly injured, but my children and I had to live with nightmares for a while because of the “what ifs”. Drivers and pedestrians alike must obey the laws and drive safely. NOBODY wants a serious injury or death on their conscience.
Sometimes I’m driving and yes I watch grown men riding on bikes and not looking or stopping when crossing a street….bike riders also have to be more careful
the article says nothing about the driver being at fault in any way. it appears the bicyclist didn’t watch where he was going and just pedaled onto the street without looking. the drivers in this town are horrible but the bicyclists are just as bad! it seems no one in this town knows how to drive or ride anything safely…
i wouldn’t say the drivers in this town are horrible. yes, sometimes people are careless, but it’s not everyone and it’s not all the time. i’m sure everyone has spaced out at least once while driving. i guess if you’re looking for bad drivers, you’ll see bad drivers.
