The 24-hour CVS Pharmacy in Lakewood will be ending the 24 hour service, TLS has learned.
The corporate office didn’t state a reason for the change, but it could be because of a new 24 hour CVS opening in Howell, and due to its close proximity to the Walgreens on Route 9.
Beginning in December, 2015, the CVS Pharmacy on River Avenue will close at 9 PM on Monday-Friday, 6 PM on Saturday and 5 PM on Sunday, the corporate office said. The store will remain open 24 hours.

Their loss!
The only reason I ever went to CVS was because of the hours. Time to go to Wallgreens….
I’m not sure why this decision was made but the 24 hour service was the only reason I frequently shopped there. Their loss, indeed.
Bad move.
I won fill my prescriptions there any more. It was only worthwhile that they were open 24*7
Come on closing at 5 on Sunday?
Agreed, their loss. The only reason many people went there was for the convenience of 24 hours. Now that they took that away, I wish them luck staying in business.
The only reason I ever went there was because of their 24/7 hours. Their service was atrocious anyway.I’m glad there are more efficient pharmacies around here.
This is the one at Kimball? If that’s the case, it’s a foolish decision. Makes sense to me that if you have aa 24 hour store pharmacy department, ITS NEAR THE HOSPITAL!
So to all the people that say “their loss,” I would think that the people who run CVS that has hundreds of stores throughout the country would be able to determine which location is a “loss” or not. (Just like Shoprite, btw.)
So, basically, it’s your loss, not theirs.
Is it just the pharmacy that’s ending 24 hour service or is it the entire store ? I also must say respectfully to Gabi whos previous comment referenced the closing at 5 o’clock on Sunday that we must all remember that not everyone follows the same schedule.
Time for walgreens
Back to Walgreens for me too!!
Late at night it’s only a couple of minutes difference from my part of town.
Such a loss to Lakewood
Walgreens Here we come. Only reason I stepped in that place was bec of the 24 hour service.
To all those who want to go to Walgreens….Walgreens has 24 hr service …. You have to wait 24 hrs for service
@bob
Lol
my only logical explanation is that cvs never makes money off a 24 hr pharmacy they do it to attract customers and at this point they looked at their data and figured they will do fine without that attraction.
I don’t understand why they are stopping the 24 hours service it’s always busy and they can’t handle the volume???
I have never shopped at CVS nor at Walgreens for that matter. If I need a prescription I will fill it at one of unzere pharmaciesl, most likely Refuah or the one in Westgate.
People such as myself only came there because of the 24 hour feature without that I won’t walk thru the door. Pharmex has much better service. So back to Walgreens.
As a worker at the store I am being told it will only be the Pharmacy not the entire store. If the store is closing 24 hrs please message me where you got your information.
Oh no!!!!
I use them after hours mainly!!!
It’s probably because they don’t make enough money and are constantly getting product stolen overnight.
Why cry tears for CVS? Although some of the employees are extremely nice, some are obnoxious and rude. One recent incident involved the male cashier extremely rude to an elderly yid who could hardly help himself. The situation escalated and I gave the man a ride to another pharmacy. We have also found for the most part their pharmacy understaffed, rude, and just overall disgusting behavior to people in general. They must hate their job. Why would you want to go there? After those few seperate incidents we don’t go back. The nice ones are nice, the rude ones do that very well though.
I have been trying to purchase that sight to open a grocery store. I hope they are willing to sell.
Where will I get kosher milk at 1 AM ???
To Maria. I can’t imagine why they would keep the store open if the pharmacy is closed. They could not advertise that they are open 24 hours without keeping the pharmacy open – without alienating their customers Who might drive a long way to fill a prescription at 2 AM.
Walgreens is open but the wait is always very long
Sounds like it will be the pharmacy closing early and not the rest of the store. If it is the entire store, then they are in trouble. What kind of big corporation closes that early on Saturday or Sunday?
As for the Howell location opening soon, that will not be 24/7.That was one of the conditions when they decided to build it.
Generally speaking when ever the doctor’s are open the heimishe pharmacies are open such as Madison and Refua. The customer service at these smaller pharmacies is far superior than the national chain stores.
