  1. Kudos to the schools that followed the BOE and had a delayed opening.
Why my kids school felt that it had to prove its frumness by deciding LAST NIGHT that school would open at 9AM sharp with no transportation is beyond me. Quite frankly, I think it displays a callousness towards my families safety, At least wait until the morning and see how things pan out before deciding!

  2. Be careful! Almost hit a car this morning. Was only going 10 mph and hit the brakes at least 50 feet from the car in front of me.

2 cars behind me would have hit me if they didn’t go on to shoulder. Corner of Vine and Spruce is ice.

  3. Delayed opening doesn’t help if the streets aren’t salted/sanded! As of 1:52, I’m still waiting for a truck to come down my block/area.

  4. To #6. Thank you for your critique of my driving. Perhaps it makes you feel better and superior to get that out of your system.

I have extensive experience driving in snowy winter conditions. I am from the midwest and travel to snowier climates often. The road that I was on a sheet of ice on slight downhill without a trace of sand or salt pumping or hitting th brakes would have made no difference

  5. 90 minute delays have to stop because the condition on the roads don’t change 90 minutes later especially if the roads weren’t salted. It adds more traffic and chaos. A lot of buses don’t show up and if they do it’s way past 2 hrs. Our children are freezing outside. In this weather especially, our children are safer on their buses rather than in a car, minivan etc. Today was ridiculous!!!

  6. if anyone in the DPW is reading this, can you please take a drive down Forest Ave? That road has HUGE craters!! for such a heavily travelled road, maybe you can give it some priority?

  7. Mr.Michael Stewart was called by Lakewood pd around 10:00 pm and he called his supervisor to let him know about the situation, his supervisor then called Mr.Arrechi and his answer was to wait until the next day at 7 in the morning. We the workers at dpw can’t go to work unless we get the ok by any of the supervisors. But we are the ones always getting blame for everything, why not blaming the supervisor in charge of making the decision? They are the ones making six figures $$$$$
