A crew from the Department of Corrections facility of Ocean County will once again be performing a cleanup detail in Lakewood today. The crew, overseen by Officer K. Burdge, will be beginning with an area along Ridge Avenue, cleaning up trash and other waste along the road.
As the weather gets warmer, the cleanup crew is expected to begin cleaning graffitti as well.
To report graffiti in your area, call the Quality of Life hotline at 732-942-5003. TLS.
It would be great if there could be a cleanup around Lake Carasaljo. Some of us regularly bring bags when we walk around the lake and do pick up trash but a real cleanup would be a blessing.
By the lake is probably more difficult, because all the woods, they would need more officers to oversee the process, so it becomes more expensive.
Again, this is not knlwledge, I’m just assuming
the first place they bring these thugs is to clean up their former neighborhood.
This is greatly appreciated since Ridge Avenue is really full of litter. Hopefully this program will go township wide. Unfortunately there is garbage strewn all over town. We really have to start an education campaign for children and adults. Property owners need to be made responsible for the cleanliness of their grounds, both residential and commercial
glad you said it #4! “Property owners need to be made responsible for the cleanliness of their grounds, both residential and commercial”. all i see is trash from recycling and garbage containers all over this town!
You try cleaning your property along the road and sure as heck one week later it is full of cans, bottles, plastic containers etc. Once again the burden is on the property owner. Why is it that people driving cars are not made responsible for this littering. The laws are written and not inforced. Most of all it seems that very few have respect for anything or anyone. This is just the beginning of the end.
I agree, cleaning the interior of Carasljo would present difficulties but what about the perimeter which is easily accesible and open to view?
These people are not “thugs” they are non violent offenders doing community service. To put them in the same group as a gang member is unfair. These people made a mistake and are doing their punishment, so stop prejudging them.
drove down ridge today and saw boxes along the roadway from a dumpster on that road. and its only a day later!!!
