Covid Uptick Causing School Bus Driver Shortages, Route Disruptions, LSTA says

An uptick in Covid cases is causing an added strain on the bus shortage.

“All vendors are currently experiencing a large uptick in COVID positive for their drivers,” the LSTA’s Abraham Krawiec tells TLS. “This will understandably cause some scheduling issues. This is causing a strain on our driver numbers with what’s an already existing daily struggle to cover our routes due to driver shortages,” Krawiec said.

Krawiec says many public school districts in our area have gone to remote classes due to these issues.

It’s interesting to note, that the Lakewood Board of Education had previously offered a driver vaccination clinic, and many who are now sick are actually completely vaccinated.

But Krawiec says his office is communicating with the schools as early in the day as possible to advise of any routes that may be impacted.

On the topic of communication, Krawiec says the LSTA has corresponded with the heads of schools via text and email over 100 times since August.

In addition, “Working alongside The Lakewood Scoop and others, we will roll out an LSTA ‘parent text notification’ system where we will be able to communicate with the masses as well as parents by school.”

This new addition follows the LSTA’s safety line, as well as the ability to text the LSTA.

Do some research and you’ll find a Danish study showing after 90 days vaccinated people have a higher chance of catching omicron. There are all kinds of excuses to the “bias” as being incorrect. But, there’s nothing like being on the ground and seeing with your own eyes a flood of cases in the vaccinated – and it definitely appears to be worse than the unvaccinated…

If (moderated) would give each parent even a dollar maybe they’d feel a little bit of the inconvenience they give the parents after waiting for the bus for 45 minutes only to realize it’s not showing up. The kids are cold and cranky even before starting their day. The parents have to drive them causing them to be late to work….. and the bus companies have 0 accountability!!! Why is this ok?? If a private company would get the cash it would be run a whole lot smarter and possibly on a lower budget then our stupid government!

This is an opportunity IMO for someone to start his or her own private school bus company.
