New Jersey Human Services announced that applications for the COVID Housing Assistance Program are now open.
New Jersey residents not able to pay their rent or mortgage if they suffered a financial hardship due to COVID-19 can now apply for up to $25,000 to help pay housing costs if they have been unable, or will be unable, to make payments due to the ongoing pandemic.
To be eligible for the COVID-19 Housing Assistance Program, you must:
- Be a New Jersey Resident;
- Prove that you could not pay rent/mortgage due to the COVID-19; and
- Earn less than 450 percent of the federal poverty level.
Under the new program, eligible households can receive assistance for back and upcoming rent or mortgage from March through December. Applications for the COVID-19 Housing Assistance Program will be processed until funding is exhausted or no later than Dec. 18, whichever happens sooner.
Check for eligibility and apply online at nj.gov/humanservices/
