Coventry Square Resident Charged In New Rochelle House Break-in, Eyed In North End Burglary Spree

coventry square entrance signNew Rochelle police have charged a New Jersey man and are seeking two other suspects in a Friday house burglary. Police said today they are also investigating if the three are responsible for a string of north end burglaries dating back to November. Charged was Joseph E. Gill, 39, of Tudor Court, Lakewood, N.J., who works for a janitorial service in Lakewood.

Police said a 59-year-old Forest Avenue woman awoke at 10:34 p.m. Friday to find an intruder in her bedroom. The burglar was taking jewelry off her dresser. She followed him when he left the room and noticed there were two other people in her house. She demanded to know what they were doing there. They fled, got into a van and drove off.

Police responding to the woman’s call came upon the van and chased it. The van stopped on Faneuil Place. Two people fled, but police nabbed the Gill, the driver.

Police found the jewerly and a laptop that had been taken from the home in the van. Read more in Lohud.
